My Summer

This hasn't felt much like a summer, at least so far, but I have learned a lot. I went back to school this summer at Kent to start my masters work. In the first half of the summer I took Intro to Environmental Education (3 hrs) and a Designing Websites Workshop (1 hr). Currently I am taking Fundamentals of Curriculum (3 hrs), a Podcasting workshop (2 hrs), and an Adobe PDF workshop (1 hr). Much of this work is to supplement my work on a large grant from last year. The idea is to transform the classroom into a 21st century learning environment. The theory classes and the practical technology workshops have all been helpful and inspiring for me to really make changes in my classroom.

  1. Shawn,

You sound like you're probably on learning overload! I'm taking this workshop and the PDF workshop, too. Good luck with your grant and getting your classroom into the 21st century. It sounds exciting and exhausting!

  2. The "Environmental Education" course sounds interesting. What are the basics of that course? Good luck with your masters. I just finished mine in May!

  3. Environmental Education is basically about studying environmental issues in a multi-disciplinary context. The focus is on student-centered learning, including inquiry and experiential learning, to learn about important issues from various perspectives (environmental, economic, political, cultural). The idea is to help students become socially aware, and socially conscious.
